Trade decrease to $ 4.83 billion in July

India posted a trade deficit of $ 4.83 billion in goods in July, after reporting its first trade surplus in more than 18 years in the previous month, data released by the government on Friday showed.

According to data released on Wednesday by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, merchandise imports increased 28.40 percent to $ 28.47 billion in July from a year earlier, while exports fell 10.21 percent to $ 23.64 billion.

Total merchandise imports declined more than 46 percent to $ 88.91 billion in the April-July period, while exports decreased 30.21 percent to $ 74.96 billion from the year-ago period.
