Rs.1 billion for Pakistani artists in Budget 20-21
ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government on Friday unveiled its second budget for the financial year 2020-21, announcing more funding for the country’s artists.
“Artists are our property. As per the recommendations of President Arif Alvi, the Artist Welfare Fund has been increased from Rs. 25 crores to Rs. 1 billion, has been referred to as “ona corona-budget” for the industry Hammad Azhar said when presenting the federal budget.
The announcement comes as artists in the South Asian country are equally affected by damp economic activity in the wake of the lockout of coronovirus outbreaks.
So far, there are over 128,000 cases of infection in Pakistan, while 2,480 people have lost their lives due to COVID-19 disease.
